objective : verify that Mandriva complies to the spirit of free software
Well, contrary to
UbuntuNonFree, Mandriva is well known for its commitment to free software, they know that 100% free does not simply means 100% gratis like some could do...
- there has always been a free edition available (sometimes with some delay after the Official is made public and commercial)
- the cvs (now svn) has always been available for internal tools (bugzilla, hwdb-server) and those included in the distribution (drakxtools)
- now some editions are made public and gratic with proprietary software included, hence some vigilance needed from the free software community and contributors
